Ho chi minh city

After an early evening yesterday we got some pretty good sleep. I think we’re already over the jet lag on the first day…

We started the new morning a bit after eight with one of the best breakfast buffet’s I’ve ever seen. There were separate buffets for cereals, fish & cold cuts, some main courses including purple coconut flavoured rice, one with eggs and omelettes as well as one with bread and biscuits.

After breakfast we went to pick up our travel companions for the next four weeks. We booked two Honda XR 150 at Tigit Motorbikes which should hopefully get us through the country with ease.

The traffic back to the hotel wasn’t even that bad. We missed rush hour by about an hour and got to about 150m of the hotel without using any navigation help or hitting a large traffic jam. The traffic seems to be worse on foot than on bike even.

In the early afternoon we went to the Phuoc Hai temple. The cab took quite a bit of time through all of the traffic and nearly caused an accident, but we got there after all - for a 80k VDN (~3 USD). The temple was… Interesting… Quity cheesy and flashy with loads of tourists and incense.

Another quick taxi ride brought us to the War Remnants Museum. I have to say, this one left quite an impression on me… It left us both speechless and brought back memories of the Nagasaki Peace Museum.

We enjoyed the evening with some more stereet food and another visit to the rooftop bar, this time with some pictures using the tripod.
