First of all, sorry to anyone who reads this blog because of the pictures I normally post. There aren’t going to be any today. Even though the weather was finally a bit nicer and I took some pictures, I can’t post them right now. The reason is that I am still with my friend and we’re currently sitting up in the mountains, with about 30 minutes of battery left. I just have the time and connectivity to post this post with a single title picture. Update: Added the pictures from yesterday.
But let me start in the morning…
We started the day with a quick breakfast consisting of some of the left over omlettes from yesterday evening and a coffee. After this we went to the nearby village to go grocery shopping. He has a nice little house in the nearby mountains where he invited some of his friends for dinner tonight.
After shopping we went on a quick hike around the Lago di Ledro. It’s a beautiful lake with a stunning panorama. Apparently in the summer it’s full of tourists biking or hiking around, or swimming in the lake. Some of the villages supposedly have more hotel beds than permanent inhabitants. But today was still on the quite side. We met probably around twenty bikers in total. This hike was also where I took most of my pictures today.
After the hike we went back to his house to pack some stuff and then came up to the mountain home. It’s a nice little house, about 30m² with absolutely no other living soul anywhere close. The stove is fueled by a fire, as is the heating. So we started heating the house somewhat and started pealing potatoes, carrots, cutting onions. We’re cooking a roast with home-made polenta as well as a local dish called peverá.
I’m going to wrap up this post for today and post some more tomorrow, including the pictures I left off today. But for now I’ll join the others who are already sitting outside, playing the guitar and a djembe and singing songs while enjoying the evening.
