Austria seems a bit like the more fun Swiss cousin. Roads are often wider, speed limits are higher and it’s just as stunning to drive through the countryside. I chose to take the highway around, or rather under Graz to win some time and reduce the trip time to a more manageable 5 hours. The tunnel under Graz was hell though, being completely lane split, limited to 80 km/h and featuring 38.5°C in a less well ventilated area. I was stuck behind a truck for most of the nearly 10km length.

Shortly after emerging on the other side I left the highway and took the road next to it. It was very low traffic and places to overtake trucks were plenty. Every 20-ish minutes a beautiful castle was proudly featured in the nearby mountains.
After arriving in Salzburg I took a quick shower and went to the old town for a few drinks and dinner. The Restaurant Innergebirg served astonishing Spinatknödel, but since I am currently in Austria I had to have some local dessert as well. So I moved on to Zum Zirkelwirt and had a Kaiserschmarrn mit Zwetschgenröster.

By the way: I finally added the pictures to yesterday’s post, now that I have some working internet again. So make sure to check it out.
