Of course the weather wasn’t well enough in the morning. How could it be. So I skipped trying to get a nice picture of Dubrivnik from the imperial fort. It rained pretty much constantly until I reached the border to Bosnia and Herzegovina at Ivanica. Since I wans’t going through the Neum Corridor this time the border check took much longer now. They checked my ID as well as all the papers for my motorcycle in detail. Just a few kilometers from the border I got the first sight of what would expect me for the next two hours…

Sadly, the pictures don’t do this scenery justice. After days of seeing the Adriatic coast, this was definitely a welcome change. The smell of fresh air while driving through kilometers of forests, only to be interrupted by an old diesel VW Polo producing more CO² in 5s of acceleration than a Swiss car is allowed in a year…

The driving style however is very different from Croatia. It’s in fact very similar to Switzerland. Nearly everybody obeys the speed limits and they are heavily enforced. I’ve heard from multiple people that corruption is also still somewhat of an issue and they do like to pull out tourists to try to earn a few € into their own pockets. So far I’ve been lucky though.

I arrived at my destination in the early afternoon and started looking for a hotel. I got lucky at the second stop and hit the street, walking into the old town. The old town is filled with the same kind of hand crafts being sold at touristic prices. I did spot a bar labeled with the magic words Craft Beer Garden.

The best part of my evening however was the dinner. I went to a highly rated - currently 4.8 with 471 votes - BBQ called Tima-Irma. I ordered a mixed plate for one person and what I got was absolutely amazing. Not only was the plate very cheap (15 Kuma, about 7.50€) and huge, it was also absolute perfection in taste and composition, featuring different cheeses, meats, salad as well as ajvar and mustard. I enjoyed my plate plus a glass of wine for only 10€ total and loved every little bite of it. Highly recommended if you ever come here.
