Bella vista

The hotel I stayed in for the night continued to surprise me with the breakfast buffet. It wasn’t huge size wise, but the selection on display was. It had about 8 different local cold cuts, a sizable selection of cheese as well as a separate buffet where you could build your own muesli. The fried egg they offered was as delicious as it was gorgeous looking.

Route for May 20, 2019

Today’s route brought me through the province of Bolzano towards the Lago di Garda, where I planned to meet with a friend I met during the studies in Rennes. The route started to get interesting once I left the main roads in Trento. The road wasn’t the best driving road, but the views were fantastic. Both sides were decorated by mountains emerging from the clouds.

I arrived at my destination, a valley between Lago di Garda and Lago di Ledro, in the early afternoon. In a tiny village with about 1500 people I was expected by a good friend I met in France. They already prepared lunch and were just waiting for me to join them.

In the afternoon we made a small hike down the old road to the lake. The road was closed as being too dangerous when they opened the new tunnel going through the mountain. While the road was certainly adventurous with the cars and buses, it’s now a beautiful path used by both hikers and bikers. With the lake as the background and the mountains in the foreground I had a lot of good subjects to take pictures of, some of them even reasonably good.

For dinner there were home made omlettes, stuffed with spinach and ricotta as well as speck and gorgonzola, all gratinated in the oven. Since it was already pretty late by the time we finished dinner, I’m making this blog post a bit shorter than normal. In exchange I added a few more pictures from today, mostly form the hike towards the lake. Enjoy!
