Walled city, part 2

It costs about 27€ to walk on the Dubrovnik city walls. To take a walk. There is nothing else up there. You can obviously get a guide to show you around and tell you a few things, but that’s going to set you back another 10€. This city is just too expensive… So naturally, I’ve skipped it. Instead, I spend my time walking around inside as well as both east and west of the city, going up the mountain a bit.

Since the weather is still not on my side, I could not do the walk up to Mount Srđ. I had to turn around when I reached the main road which goes along the city since it started raining quite heavily and I wasn’t prepared for a walk through the woods with that weather. I was however able to take a few decent pictures, even though the lighting was not in my favor.

I went back into the city and stopped by a local bar for a drink. After this I started looking for a good place to have lunch. It turns out, there is actually a fast food restaurant in Dubrovnik which has a 4.9 rating. I had to try it out - and boy, did it deliver. The burger, I chose the Burger of Thrones, was definitely in the top 3 of the best burgers I ate in my life. The fries that came together with it were also to die for, especially with the garlic mayonnaise.

The afternoon fell on the shorter side. I checked out a few places east of the city center as soon as it stopped raining. It did make for some nice photos of a beach with quite some waves and I also went up to a parking spot which overlooks the city. It’s quite baffling that you would have a parking spot with a nice view, but the whole city has a lack of parking possibilities, so they take anything they can get. The plus side is that nobody is up there, so I could just enjoy the view with some time on my own.

It started raining again in the afternoon, so I planned to quickly go back to my room and wait the rain out. It turns out that didn’t really happen, so I spent quite some time sitting around waiting for some better weather again…

All in all, it’s definitely a city I would like to visit again, hopefully with decent weather. It’s absolutely gorgeous and I’d definitely like to do the whole hike up to the imperial fort at some point. If the weather is somewhat okay, I’ll ride up tomorrow on my way out of the city…
